Lezime L. “Bill” Furness, 86, of Osborne Ave., Sangerfield, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at his home.
He was born February 3, 1930 in Bridgewater, a son of Lezime and Ethel Palmer Furness and received his education in Waterville schools. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. In 1965, Bill married Myrtle “Myrt” Burgess Sanderson in Waterville. He was a self-employed electrical/plumbing/contractor for many years.
Bill was a member of the Clifford J. Fulmer American Legion Post #92 of Sangerfield and an honorary member of the Waterville Fire Department.
Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Myrtle; his children, Joseph Sanderson and Claudia of Bouckville; Sandy and Dick Martin of Sangerfield; Nancy and Dennis Salm of Waterville; Linda and Dan Rauscher of Oriskany Falls; Mike Thomas of Columbia, SC, a sister, Annie Wagner of Hanover PA; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Paul and Joyce Holic of Waterville, Robert and Linda Holic of Sangerfield; 10 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Betty Kelsey.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, June 4, 2016 from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, (Kloster & Northrop Memorial Chapel), 210 East Main St., Waterville.
Interment will follow in the Stockwell Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Friday from 5-8pm.
