Obituary for Jerome J. "Jerry" Ulatowski

Jerome J. "Jerry" Ulatowski
SHERBURNE: Jerome J. “Jerry” Ulatowski, 88, of East State St., passed away Thursday, April 24, 2014 at the Elizabeth Church Manor Nursing Home in Binghamton.
He was born June 15, 1925 in Buffalo, NY, a son of Casmir and Emelia Helminiak Ulatowski. He received his early education in Buffalo schools, and was a graduate of the State University College at Buffalo where he studied Pre-Med and received his BS degree. He then proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Following his discharge, he attended the nursing program at the E.J. Meyer Memorial Hospital in Buffalo where he received his Registered Nursing degree. On November 23, 1950, Jerome married Coralie Martin in Buffalo. He was employed by Eaton Laboratories in Buffalo as a salesman and district manager. Moving to Sherburne in 1961, he continued his work at Eaton Labs (then Proctor & Gamble) in urology research. He traveled worldwide and was an honorary member of the New England Urological Association.
Jerry was a communicant of St. Malachy’s Church in Sherburne where he was active in many church programs; and a member and Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus. Very community minded, he was involved in many civic organizations including the American Legion Post #876 where he was a Past Commander. He was a former trustee of the Sherburne Library; a member of the Sherburne Rotary Club and Toastmasters. He loved the time spent maintaining his yard and home where he and Coralie had operated a part-time Bed and Breakfast. Following retirement, they wintered in Florida where he enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles, mounting over 80 of them, and was featured in the Pasco Times.
Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Coralie; his children, Amelia and Brian Leach, Jerome J. II and Lydia Ulatowski; Damian and Mary Ellen Ulatowski; Gregory Ulatowski; Andrea and Howard Way; Justine Ballin; Jacob and Lori Ulatowski; Roberta and James Westfall; and Christopher Ulatowski; 28 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Gertrude Samol, Robert and Thomas Ulatowski.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Tuesday April 29, 2014 from St. Malachy’s Church, East State St., Sherburne.
Interment in St. Malachy’s Cemetery with Military Honors will follow.
Friends are invited to call at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne on Monday April 28, 2014 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM
