Obituary for Albie T. Omerso

Albie T. Omerso, 89, of Route 26, Eaton, NY, passed away Sunday, November 24, 2013 at his home.
He was born December 5, 1923 in the Town of Eaton, a son of Frank, Sr. and Mary Kostijsek Omerso. He received his early education in Eaton schools and was a graduate of Morrisville-Eaton High School. Albie joined the U.S. Army in 1944, proudly serving in the European Theater of Operations during WWII, and was honorably discharged in 1946. On November 2, 1952, Albie married Jean M. Gorton in Hamilton. He was a self-employed farmer, and had also been a bus driver for the Morrisville-Eaton school district until his retirement. He loved to read and enjoyed cutting wood.
Albie was a charter member of the Eaton Volunteer Fire Department, and a member of the American Legion Post #54 in Munnsville.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Jean; his children, John and Ilene Omerso of CT; Nancy Orth of Morrisville; Janet Omerso and Timothy Thayer of Eaton; a brother, Ernest Omerso of FL and TN; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Karen Bourgeois, and a brother, Frank Omerso, Jr.
Private services will be held at the convenience of his family.
There are no calling hours.
Contributions in his memory may be made to the Eaton Volunteer Fire Department.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 31 Cedar St., Morrisville.
