Obituary for Mary Lue O'Brien (Brown)

Mary Lue O’Brien, 83, of Waterville, NY passed away Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at the Harding Nursing Home in Waterville.
She was born December 1, 1929 in Utica, a daughter of Gilbert and Luella Botham Brown. Her early childhood was spent in North Augusta, Ontario, Canada and her wonderful memories of that time were kept close to her heart. She was a graduate of Waterville High School and the St. Luke’s Memorial Hospital Center School of Nursing. On September 1, 1951 Mary Lue married Francis R. “Red” O’Brien at St. Bernard’s Church in Waterville, and raised their family in the Waterville area. He predeceased her on September 16, 1986. Mary Lue was a registered nurse who worked in all facets of nursing, especially geriatrics. She worked at the Harding Nursing Home for many years until retiring in 1994. She was an avid golfer, enjoyed reading, traveled extensively, and was a dog lover. She was a member of St. Bernard’s Church.
Surviving are her family to whom she was devoted and loved with all her being: Susan Mulata of Waterville and her children, Eric, Lynette and David; Penny O’Brien of Waterville; Robert and Joyce O’Brien of Harrisburg, PA and their children, Sean and Susan, Aaron and Pam; Edward and Elizabeth O’Brien of Sauquoit and their children, Hilary and Bill Owens, and Heather O’Brien-Bridge; Daniel and Robin O’Brien of Dillsburg, PA, and their children, James, Kaitlin, Dustin and Jacob; and Joseph O’Brien of Waterville. Also surviving is her sister, who was her most cherished friend, Vera Barnes of Stockwell; 13 great-grandchildren, whom she adored; and many nieces and nephews. A son, Patrick and his wife, Darla, predeceased her.
Memorial services will be held at 2pm Friday, (today) August 16, 2013, from the Kloster & Northrop Memorial Chapel at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 210 E. Main St. Waterville.
Interment will be private at the convenience of her family.
There are no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, Mary Lue would want for you to extend kindness to those who are in need.
Her family wishes to express a special “thank you” to Judy, Colleen, and the wonderful staff at Harding Nursing Home.
