Obituary for Joseph "Joe" Zebrowski

Joseph "Joe"  Zebrowski

Joseph J. Zebrowski, 87 of Cole Hill Road, Hubbardsville passed away peacefully on July 21, 2012 at Masonic Care Community with his wife Betty and loving family by his side.
Joseph was born on September 20, 1924 in Utica, New York, the son of Stanley and Julia Benbenek Zebrowski. He attended St. Stanislaus and Proctor High School in Utica, NY. Joseph was a member of St. Bernard’s Parish in Waterville and the American Legion, Fulmer Post in Sangerfield for 50 years.
Joseph enlisted in the Navy and served his country from 1942–1946 as a Navy gunner pilot.
Joseph worked at GE in Utica for 15 years where he was the foreman of the plastics department, and with his brother in law, Joe Greco, they owned and operated the East End Gulf Station in Utica, NY. Joseph married Betty Minnard on January 24, 1962 in Baltimore, MD. Joseph and Betty purchased the Sangerfield Inn in Sangerfield which they owned and operated until their retirement in 1987.
Joseph leaves his beloved wife Betty of 50 years; his son David and wife Linda of New York Mills; son Joseph of Clark Mills; his daughter Diane and husband, DeWitt Head, of Hubbardsville. Joseph leaves 12 grandchildren and 20 great grand children; many nieces; nephews, close friends and his beloved cat Buddy. His is also survived by his beloved sister Sophie Greco of Glenburnie, MD and a brother Stanley (Ben) Zebrowski, Jr. of Utica. He was predeceased by his brother Julian and his sister Stella Benesch.
Services will be held at 9:30 am Monday, July 30, 2012 at the Kloster-Northrop & Bentz Funeral Home, 210 E. Main St., Waterville, followed at 10 am by the celebration of a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Bernard’s Church, Stafford Ave., Waterville, NY.
Interment with military honors will be in Graham Cemetery, Hubbardsville, NY
Friends are invited to call from 2-5 pm Sunday at the funeral home, with a prayer service at 5pm.
In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to the Waterville Ambulance Corp. or the North Brookfield Fire Department.
Joseph’s family would like to thank all the staff at Masonic Care Community for their excellent care and compassion, especially Dr. Olteanu (Dr. “O”) and the nursing staff of the Westchester household.
